THE goat

I have the BEST wife in the world. I don't think any other wife would have let this go down. I think she's still mad but at least I had a bed to come home to. I am not a bad dad! Ashely's dad booked this hunt the week before we found out she was prego. He paid, and we couldn't get the money back if we canceled. THANK YOU ASHLEY (and Steve). She will be so happy she let me go when she gets the FULL stuffed Mnt Goat delivered to her living room to accompany her nice new sofa.
I learned how to take a pic with my phone through the spotting scope. This goat was about 2 miles away. It is crazy to see the places these goats will go. Inches between the mountain and thousand foot cliffs. This brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "don't look down"

Every time we got to the top of the hill (mountain) the guide would look back and say "that was great, but now we need to get up that bigger hill" We bush-wacked up 6 thousand feet the first day (13 hours). I was impressed that we made it. Needless to say we were smoked when we reached the camp site that night.
Babine lake, 113 miles long. The view was amazing. At the mouth of this lake is the best steel-head salmon fishing in the world. I didn't get a chance to fish, but I guess thats a great reason to go back up next year. This was the view from our cabin. We stayed in this cabin the first and last night, all the other nights we were spent up in the mountains sleeping in a tiny tent hoping no grizzly bears were going to eat us.

Shear cliffs thousand of feet straight down. It was kinda weird watching float planes fly below us.
I am so grateful for a father in law who likes to hunt, I'm even more grateful he does not like to hunt alone. He has shown me the most incredible places in the world. I know it's always going to be a great adventure when I get the phone call that starts out "do think you can convince Ashley to let you go somewhere for a week."
One shot kill, 257 yards, 300+ pound, 7-8 year old Billy Goat! Over 70 inches long. Unofficially the biggest goat taken out of Smithers British Columbia. Steve continued to remind me that "the harder the hunt, the more detailed you will remember it." This is a hunt that I will never forget. Thanks again Steve!

Welcome to the world!

Miss Natasha Rae Barnes
born Thursday, September 8, 2011
Rex Hospital Raleigh North Carolina
12:06pm 6 lbs 15 oz 20 inches long

1st non-9 lb baby! 10 days early helped that.
wink wink world...I'm here!

the big bro and big sis

So what do the siblings think about their new little sister?
"I like her so much and I like her hair and I like feeding her. I promise to kiss and hug her."
"I love muh- tasha and my Little Pony. She drinks her bottle and likes her sucky".

This is what the kids have been up to during this new transition:

Brenna started Joy school same week so it is nice to keep her happy and busy 2 days a week.
When people would ask the kids when their baby sister was coming, they would say "When Grandma Lisa gets here!" They are so excited she is here to entertain them while mom is home with baby.
They went on a "treasure hunt" in the creek by our house and had a special picnic with grandma. In fact, Grandma and Jace just walked in with a remote control spider, mermaid costume, cupcakes, and Halloween decorations. They will NEVER want her to leave!
Jace and Brenna picked out balloons for Natasha- my little pony and Batman
Natasha won some brownie points by giving her big brother and big sister a present when she came home: Captain America halloween costume and unicorn pillow pet. It was quite the hit.

Excited for all my kiddos to be the best of friends!iom

1st few days...

Natasha has been a joy since the minute she came out. Only cries when she is hungry and boy does she know how to eat.
Quick wrap up of her first few days of life!
Looking adorable,
Getting her hair brushed by Brenna,
crazy visits from Jace and Brenna,
posing for pictures,
being spoiled by grandma,
getting ditched by dad(leaving on a once in a life time hunting trip)
snuggling with her girls,
hanging with the fam,
loving her mommy,

finally going home!

My baby is here!!

Ok not that baby...give me a few more days. However I have been anticipating this just as much!
I FINALLY got MY couch after 8 years of our newlywed couches, year and a half of saving up teaching money, and 4 months of waiting for the fabric.

Please excuse all my angles...she is just so dang sexy!
Sadly nothing else I own in that room even compares, so I'll have to start from scratch again. Luckily my awesome friend and old neighbor Rachel is helping me put the room together. She is such a talented designer out of San Fran.
Check out her website www.eleganceredefined.com and www.pushinteriordesign.com
This was the inspiration couch I first saw....in "blue jean" fabric. Chad didn't quite go for that
just sold these babies on craigslist--So long!!...you have been great trampolines for my kids
